Pricing

Most family law firms charge by the hour, which can make costs unpredictable. Whilst advice at an hourly rate remains available, we offer two pricing structures: an hourly rate or a monthly fixed-fee subscription. The initial consultation is a fixed fee, with the structure best suited to your ongoing work then set out in writing.

An initial consultation runs for up to an hour and covers the substance of your situation. Following the meeting, we will provide written guidance setting out the scope of the work, alongside the pricing structure best suited to it.

What’s included

  • Up to one hour with a specialist family solicitor
  • Substantive advice on the issues in your situation
  • Written guidance following the meeting
  • A pricing structure for the work ahead, set out in full

Two pricing structures

Hourly rate

By the hour

Available throughout, and best suited to situations where the scope is genuinely uncertain at the outset, or where the work is short and self-contained. The hourly rate is agreed in writing before any work begins.

Monthly subscription

By the month

A tiered fixed monthly cost based on the level of service, type of work, and stage of case. Agreed in advance, this option provides peace of mind and allows appropriate budgeting. It reduces concerns over the cost of contacting a solicitor.

Many clients move onto a monthly subscription following the initial consultation. The tier reflects the complexity involved and the level of solicitor input expected. The monthly fee for your tier, alongside any add-ons that apply, is confirmed in writing before any work begins.

Three variables

The overall cost of any family law work turns on three things: the complexity of the situation, the level of solicitor input required, and whether the parties settle or progress to court. The great majority of situations settle, often well before a contested hearing, and the pricing structures reflect that. Where the work takes a different shape, the pricing flexes with it - discussed openly and reconfirmed in writing.
